Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings US Festival Appearances Coming To DVD
Shout! Factory have set November 15th DVD releases of live Willie Nelson at American festival in 1983 and Waylon Jennings Live U.S. Festival June 4, 1983. With 23 songs and a total of 80 minutes of Willie Nelson, and 22 songs and 60 minutes total running time of Waylon Jennings, these releases capture an unforgettable moment in the history of music.
Held on two weekends in 1982 and 1983, the Festival of the United States was financed and organized by Apple Computer, Steve Wozniak, who also organized the exhibition of technology support, and construction of a new outdoor site in Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernadino, California. Almost every musical genre was represented by bands as diverse as U2, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne, Willie Nelson, Van Halen, The Police and The Clash. In the combined seven-day festival, over a million people crossed the entrance doors.
June 4, 1983, was "Country Day" at U.S. Festival, featuring artists such as such as Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Hank Williams, Jr., and Emmylou Harris, and featured none other than the legendary Willie Nelson. This concert featuring country music superstar at its peak, many of his best loved songs and biggest hits, like "Whiskey River", "Bloody Mary Morning" and "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain", and the excitement of the crowd was joined by Waylon for "Mammas Do not let your babies grow up to be cowboys," and "Good Hearted Woman."
Last Waylon was one of the highlights of the day, with performances by several of his hits, including "Do not you think this Outlaw Bit Done out of hand," "Are You Sure Hank done it this way" "I've always Been Crazy" and "Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics of Love)". Waylon was also joined on stage by wife Jessi Colter made for a particularly memorable "Storms Never Last.
