At the National Museum of Singapore, there is an ongoing exhibition by Magnum photographer Abbas, while this year's Month Of Photography Asia, which kicks off in July, works on the theme Memory. It features, among others, an exhibition of photographers who died in the line of duty in Vietnam and Indochina, and a young photographer with a different take on war photographs. Curated by German photojournalist Horst Faas and British war photographer Tim Page, the exhibition features works by some of the world's best-known photojournalists: Robert Capa, Sean Flynn, Larry Burrows, Kyoichi Sawada, Gilles Caron and Henri Huet. More importantly, it will also include a sub-section on three Singaporeans: Charles Chellapah from the defunct Malayan Times, and former Straits Times photographers Sam Kai Faye and Terence Khoo. In his quirky exhibition Superhistory, for the Month Of Photography, the 31-year-old Indonesian photographer superimposes pop culture icons into photographs taken during World War II in Europe and the Pacific. Of the 14 works on exhibit, viewers will be confronted with uncanny images of, among others, Batman mingling with Allied soldiers, Superman posing with US soldiers lugging recovered paintings from the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, and Captain America touring a POW camp in Russia with Himmler himself.Pics Of Vietcong 2 - News
