Since the 2010 midterm elections, we have seen many rulings by federal judges that strike down attempts by the states to execute the will of the people as expressed in the elections. These rulings have largely supported the liberal point of view, not the conservative one.
Examples include states attempting to deal with illegal immigration, nullify Obamacare and balance their budgets by limiting collective bargaining by government employees unions.
Most recently, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a voter-approved amendment to the Michigan Constitution that required its colleges to ignore race and gender when deciding who will be admitted. In short, the ruling reinstated affirmative action selection criteria favoring a particular race over others. Oddly, the court based its interpretation on the 14th Amendment that requires all citizens to be given equal opportunity under the law.
Add to this rash of liberal court decisions the news that George Soros has been spending millions to pack the federal courts with left-leaning judges, and I am beginning to smell a rat. Could it be that the left has succeeded in taking control of our federal justice system?
Having just celebrated the Fourth of July, we should remember the founding fathers created a government of and by the people with freedom and justice for all. Their intent was that the people should make the laws, and the judiciary should fairly and impartially interpret them. It appears that impartial interpretation is in serious doubt.

The flip side of rights is responsibilities.
The senator is responsible to protect the people of this country. Terrorists gave up their rights when they entered into their dastardly plans. These terrorists believe it is them or us and we know, or should see, their goals. Ours has to be that way also — them or us.
We need to protect our country and our way of life. These have always been American values from our humble beginnings.
The senator is concerned about creating new enemies. He shouldn’t be concerned about that. They already hate us and continue to breed more at home and abroad with their philosophy.
